The Paris Agreement Upsc

The Paris Agreement will be signed by the 195 signatories of the UNFCCC in 2016. The agreement aims to reduce and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Minister of State Shri Prakash Javadekar today reaffirmed that the Paris Agreement is a legally binding agreement covering all developed and developing countries, with the aim of strengthening the global response to the threat of climate change. The minister also said that the concepts of climate justice and sustainable living presented by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi have been incorporated into the Paris Agreement. He also said the creation of the International Solar Alliance by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and French President François Hollande was welcomed. Currently, 195 members of the UNFCCC have signed it. However, US President Donald Trump has announced his intention to withdraw from the agreement by November 2020. Shri Javadekar said the Paris Agreement was a solemn promise made by the international community to seven billion people, that we would work together to mitigate the challenges of climate change. He added that the Paris Agreement sets out the roadmap to achieve this goal. He also said that the Paris Agreement is a more sustainable and ambitious agreement and ensures that the international community will come together to offer a better land to future generations.

The minister said the agreement maintains the differentiation of mitigation measures taken by developed and developing countries. The minister also said the agreement was based on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). He stressed that all the principles enshrined in the UNFCCC are enshrined in the agreement. Shri Javadekar said the Paris Agreement recognizes the development needs of developing countries. He said the agreement recognized the right of developing countries to development and their efforts to reconcile development and the environment, while protecting the interests of the most vulnerable. The Paris Agreement falls under the UNFCCC, which is already very binding. As you say, it`s not legal. in the Paris Agreement, there is no difference between developing and developed countries. The Kyoto Protocol distinguishes between developed and developing countries by referring to them as Annex 1 countries and non-Annex 1 countries.

In accordance with the Paris Agreement, the Parties have the right to include emission reductions in any country other than their NDCs, in accordance with the Emissions Trading and Emissions Balance System. it is a multilateral agreement under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC); to reduce and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Ahead of COP 21 in Paris, countries were invited to submit national contributions (NDCs). The commitments made by different countries have changed considerably. India was part of the group of emerging countries and India lived up to its accounts as a responsible nation in the fight against climate change.
